About Us

The club was formed in 1999 by a small group of Corvette enthusiasts who never imagined we would quickly grow to almost 100 members. The Pacific Coast Corvette Club has members from as far north as Florence, as far south as Brookings, and east to Roseburg. We also have a few out of state members. Any person of good character who holds a valid driver's license can apply for membership in our club. The club meets the second Wednesday of every month at Ken Ware Super Store at 1595 Newmark in North Bend, Oregon. In addition to club dinners, cruises, and other group activities, our signature event is our annual Corvette Show'n Shine. Florence Rhody Parade

After meeting at Ken Ware, 8 cars made their way to Florance where we met up with Bill & Gail Collins.  Two cars from the Newport Club joined up giving us a nice round number of 11.  Both Pete Devereaux and Rich Waters had overheating problems and had to drop out part way through the parade.  The turn out was amazing, must have been several thousand to watch as the parade rolled past.  When all was said and done some of us met for lunch at Three Rivers Casino.  A good time was had by all.

Weston’s 5th Magical Mystery Tour

         “Do we really have to leave at 7:30, it’s only an hour and half to Roseburg?” 
                        This, I asked Dick and Eileen asked me.
     Saturday morning, we pull into Bunker Hill school at about 7:25, and nobody else is there.  At 7:35, I call Dick’s cell, no answer.  I try Doug Kime, no answer.  Now I know they were still in bed, or assume so.  We leave Bunker Hill School at about 7:40, after we decided nobody else would show.  Had very light mist between 42/101 Junction and Coquille, and again up the river above Remote.  Otherwise, the entire day was dry and reasonably nice, considering El Nino continues to do it’s thing.
     We met Jerry and Susanne, the only other PCCC members, at Love’s.  About 20 min later, the 8 cars from Timberland Corvettes come wheeling inline.  We visit and renew some acquaintances.  About 9:30, we leave in a caravan, following Jerry and Susanne.
     We take some back country roads to Myrtle Creek and stop at the city park.  Visit and look at some interesting historical murals and get instructions from Susanne.  Now we know a bit more, we are going up Cow Creek from Tri Cities to Glendale.  This is only the 3rd time I have taken this road, and surprisingly, since I’ve been on a couple of trips with several of the Doug Co residents.
     We turn at the site of the only nickel mine in the country and enter the BLM tour route. We meander along Cow Creek at a stately speed, (def: Slower than I would drive).   We learn from the info that Susanne provided that there were a number of gold and nickel mine sites along the river interspersed between small farms or goat pastures. This is one of the most scenic drives not on the coast, in Oregon. There is even a section of river set aside for public gold panning. At about mile 19, we stop across the river from one of two steel girder bridges at the location where the camp of West Fork, used to stand.  Time to draw another poker card and read some of the historical placards and take pictures.  From this point, where we we pass one of several railroad tunnels, we start climbing away from the river and after about 40 miles on Cow Creek Route, we come to Glendale.  This small town is only about a mile or two off I-5, but you think you are in the 50′s. 
     Jerry and Susie have arranged lunch at a small Mexican Restaurant in Glendale.  We enjoy the food and visiting, until Susie says, “Now it’s time for the test!”  She has a test for us on some of the details from the tour information she gave us.  Each person with the first correct answer is rewarded with a gold nugget. We received a nugget for the Long Distance Award.
     After lunch, we see that we have drawn a number of spectators from the area who are walking and driving by looking at our Corvettes.  After visiting with some of the locals, we jump back in our cars and head for the freeway.  We travel back to Winston, a short 25 minute trip, even though we were ‘escorted’ by two Doug Co Deputies.  We had exchanged the 23 miles of freeway for 45 miles and 2 hours of wonderful scenery.  We make our last stop in Winston to draw our last card and win some raffle prizes.  Bill and Barb Tannewitz won the poker run with $98 along with some of the other prizes.
     After saying goodbye to our friends, we head off to Home Depot and Lowe’s before coming home the ‘long way’ via Hwy 38.  For those who didn’t show, you missed a great time.

Lakeside Crawdad Festival

A BIG THANK YOU TO MATTIE & LOU LANE !!

Six members (Jack Granby, Dan & Janet Rubin, Dick & Linda Bentley, Ed & Pat Nielsen, Lou & Mattie Lane, Doug & Karen Kime, and Pete Devereaux was a ride along)  brought their cars and a quest (Don Dominick) made it seven.  A big crowd was on hand for the festival, lots of food (free lunch).  We ran into Wayne & Jan, Wayne came for the Crawdad’s and Jan was there to watch.  Dan tried the Crawdad’s but I think he was the only one of the crowd that did.

Newport Loyalty Days 4-30-11

We had a good turnout for the Loyalty Days in Newport.  10 members drove their cars the 100 miles to take part.  Bill & Gail Collins, Lou & Mattie Lane, Ed & Pat Nielsen, Dick & Linda Bentley, Fergus & Nancy Gailbrath, Jack & Roberta Granby, Dan & Janet Rubin, Doug & Karen Kime, Darrell King and last but not least Pete Devereaux.  Some of the members drove up Friday and stayed over for the Saturday Show & Shine.  Of the 76 cars at the show 3 of our convertibles were chosen to carry the Queen and Princesses in the parade.  4 of our members received trophys, trophys were named after trees ?? – go figure.  Oh yeah, Jack won Darrell’s beer with ONE raffle ticket.  A good time was had by all – I hope everyone enjoys the photos.
